CLAYTON: Targets wrong enemies

| March 24, 2021 1:00 AM

Cornell W. Clayton tries to build a case that those who do not accept the mainstream of politics ought not to be given space on the editorial page. One thing we can be thankful for is that our Press does print editorial comments, even those that are against The Press.

Mr. Clayton called our country a constitutional democracy. Now I assume he has actually read the Constitution and should know that we are a republic; a constitutional republic. We even note that in our pledge to our flag: “and to the republic for which it stands.”

Mr. Clayton has a tendency to lump all groups under one banner and classify them as somehow subversive to what is best for America. He even includes the John Birch Society, a constitutional organization with an educational ministry. While few report on the evil overtaking our country at the moment, the Birch Society gives you a glimpse of the truth.

It is time to reinstate the House Committee on Un-American Activities and the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee. With the present administration determined to destroy America, it is well to find out the truth.
