Here's hoping they bought the insurance.
Kootenai County Sheriff's Office backcountry deputies recently responded to the Fernan Saddle to assist a citizen with a snow mobile that reportedly caught fire near Windy Ridge.
While at the saddle unloading equipment, they observed a stuck Toyota truck on the Forest Service Road 499, KCSCO reported.
After freeing that vehicle, units located the original reporting person near Windy Ridge.
"The burnt vehicle was not a snow mobile and was actually a rental Polaris Razor with tracks," KCSO reported. "The vehicle caught fire when the spare fuel can leaked onto the muffler."
The vehicle, a rental, was a total loss and was left on scene while the owner arranged to have it removed.
