Jennifer Allison Haught

| March 21, 2021 1:00 AM

On Feb. 15, 2021, Jennifer Allison Haught was called to the glory of Heaven from her home in Surprise, Ariz. She is at peace and joy in her Savior.

Jennifer was born on Nov. 13, 1957, in Oak Park, Ill., to John Allen Plahn and Diane (Wulf) Plahn. She spent her childhood in Bellwood (Illinois) and roamed the city of Chicago, attending shows and visiting museums.

In 1973, her family moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Jennifer attended Coeur d’Alene High School where she met her future husband, David Haught, in passing. Later, after David graduated, Jennifer began working at the Coeur d’Alene Library, with David as a coworker. The two were set up by the library staff and were married on Jan. 8, 1977. Jennifer and David celebrated 44 years of marriage this past January.

Jennifer had a lifelong love of reading and education. She worked in bookstores throughout the early years of her marriage and, once a mother, she began to work in the education field. Jennifer was a passionate educator and taught hundreds of children in her lifetime. She homeschooled her three children for 12 years and taught other children for decades afterward, including her grandchildren. She instilled her love of learning, history and reading in all three of her children, who will always remember her gift of a homeschool education and a constant pursuit of learning new things.

Jennifer loved art and nature and called her three children and four grandchildren her chickadees. She always put family first and made sure that they were always connected. She passed on to her children the importance of keeping family close, and they now treasure all the memories made as a family with Mom at the helm.

Jennifer is survived by her husband, David Haught; three children: Michael (Caroline) Haught (Auckland), Amanda (Olivier) Bielmann (Boise), and Andrew Haught (Surprise); four grandchildren: Theodore and Rosalind Haught and Henry and Owen Bielmann; her father, J. Allen (Barbara) Plahn; two sisters: Elizabeth (Fred) Page and Martha (Bud) Hatch; along with three nieces and two nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Diane M. Plahn.

Donations may be made in her memory to Atonement Lutheran Church and School, Glendale, Ariz. (http://atonementlc.org/) or the Southwest Collie/Sheltie Rescue, Gilbert, Ariz. (https://swcsrescue.com/).

Interment will be at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene, along with a small private family service.

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
