| March 21, 2021 1:00 AM

EVERETT, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs were winless in Everett last season, and that trend continued Saturday night.

The Chiefs were shut out 2-0 by the Everett Silvertips in Western Hockey League play at Angel of the Winds Arena, dropping to 0-2 on the late-starting season.

It’s the third time in the last five games Spokane has been shut out in Everett. The Chiefs lost all four games in the Silvertips’ arena last year.

Mason Beaupit, in his second WHL start, and first this season, had 20 saves in net for Spokane.

Jacob Wright scored 7:26 into the second period for Everett on a missed defensive assignment by the Chiefs. Jackson Berezowski scored 2:31 into the third.

Spokane plays Portland tonight at 5 at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash. Due to current COVID-19 protocols in their state, the Winterhawks are not yet allowed to play in Oregon.
