THE CHEAP SEATS with STEVE CAMERON: You've got answers? I've got questions

| March 17, 2021 1:25 AM

Believe it or not, there have been some sports stories floating around the past few days.

Besides the Zags, I mean.

So, I was thinking, just to have a little fun today, we could put the usual “Notes and Quotes” column into a different format.

In fact, let’s do it like “Jeopardy,” where we’ll have to match some questions to answers we already know.

Except, just to drive you all a little bit batty, I think we should make it a true-or-false thing.

I’ll give you one option, and you can toss out any sports question that you think is appropriate for our audience.

Got it?

No?

OK, I’ll start.

You can rock with any questions you like, but I’ll try to give you some decent examples.

Ready?

TRUE.

Did the Gonzaga and Washington State women’s teams both qualify for the NCAA tournament — including the first appearance in three decades for Wazzu?

FALSE.

Has New Orleans has made serious inquiries about Russell Wilson, now that QB Drew Brees has announced his retirement?

Haven’t the Saints agreed to pay off the $39 million in dead cap money that the Seahawks would have to eat if Wilson were traded?

TRUE.

Wouldn’t the Seahawks be stuck with that dead cap money for this season, no matter what?
And isn’t that situation worse because the NFL salary cap has dropped about $20 million for the coming season?

TRUE.

So, will Seattle trade the disgruntled Wilson during the next offseason — after an uncomfortable year in which Russ butts heads with both Pete Carroll and John Schneider?

FALSE.

Are the Seahawks doomed to a poor year with Wilson anxious to leave?

TRUE.

Didn’t New England make it to the Super Bowl in 2018 despite Tom Brady fighting with Bill Belichick and the Pats’ management?

TRUE.

Has it already become tiring, just talking about Russell Wilson?

TRUE.

Speaking of possible internal unpleasantness, has Mariners rookie Jarred Kelenic had sit-down meetings with manager Scott Servais and GM Jerry Dipoto about his status with the club on opening day?

Kelenic and the team disagree on how quickly he’s recovered from his leg injury, don’t they?

TRUE.

Did Washington State (14-13) turn down the chance to play postseason basketball because schools have to pay for entry into the CBI?

TRUE.

Back to the Mariners, will they actually have the foundation of a contending team by 2022?

STOP.

Can Gonzaga still win if…

TRUE.

Will there be enough pressure on the NBA for a return of the Sonics to Seattle once Climate Pledge Arena is complete — and a deal struck with the Kraken?

The Kraken’s management group has ties to the NBA and is willing to work on an agreement, right?

FALSE.

Won’t the Kraken struggle to attract fans with their first season coming on the heels of a pandemic?

YIKES.

Can Nick Rolovich stabilize the Washington State football program, with transfers coming in and out — plus disciplinary actions taken against QB Jaden de Laura and safety Ayden Hector?

TRUE.

Can the Cougars scrape together a .500 or better season this fall?

UMMMM…

Will the roof at T-Mobile be open when the Mariners and Giants tee it up on April 1?

FALSE.

Are you chemically addicted to nachos?

MAYBE.

Did you just lie about the nachos?
