Shirley Adams Glover

| March 16, 2021 1:00 AM

Shirley Adams Glover, 76, suffered a massive stroke but died peacefully 10 days later in hospice, on March 3, 2021, with her sons at her side, holding her hands.

She recently moved back to Coeur d’Alene after living in Porterville, Calif., for the past 25 years, working as a do-it-all business administrator and bookkeeper for Yurosek Farms of Bakersfield. If you asked her, she’d tell ya that “she runs the place …” and she made sure that she kept her family generously supplied with delicious pistachios for many years.

In her earlier years Shirley spent most of her time raising three boys while working a full-time job at their family business, CDA Tractor. She’d tell ya she was running that business too … and you could hardly argue her claim. She was a hard worker with a lot of pride in getting things done.

Shirley was an incredibly strong, intelligent, passionate woman. She had one of the most infectious laughs you've ever heard. There was nothing disingenuous about this feisty woman. She fought vehemently for the ones she loved and the things she believed in.

She loved her music, dancing, gin and tonics, and telling long-winded stories. But her true passion was her family and friends. Birthdays and holidays were her time to shine and show others how much she loved them. She would shop months ahead of time to find the perfect gift and never missed an opportunity to mail a heart-felt card to every friend and family member on those significant dates.

She left this world a happy woman. Her final wishes were to spend her remaining years with her three sons and two granddaughters. Thanks to her late husband, Ken, who left the only life he knew in Southern California to North Idaho, she was able to fulfill this wish as all three of her sons returned to their roots in Coeur d’Alene over the last three years.

If you asked her boys, they’d tell you they packed more amazing memories into the past 15 months than they were able to share with her over the previous 15 years, due to living so far away from her in Seattle and Portland. For this they feel blessed to have had such quality moments before she passed to be reunited with her loving husband, Ken. There’s a pretty good chance she’s having a gin and tonic, dancing and smiling down on her family and friends, hoping they know she’s at peace in a better place.

Private family services are being held at a later date. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Shirley’s memorial and sign her online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
