LEVIES: Whine less, worker harder

| March 14, 2021 1:00 AM

In response to “Time to step up for your schools,” I think if the powers that be want school levies to pass, they need to focus on not whining, saying “At the same time, our teachers have been on the front line for a good part of the year as COVID allowed. Many were infected with COVID and then returned to “Do their job!”

This comment and so many like them are not going to help levies pass. What do you think the rest of us have been doing during this COVID thing? “DOING OUR JOBS!” Many of us also were infected.

Teachers went to college to get a degree to do a job, just like I did. So yes “do your job.” Teachers work hard like the rest of us; actually there are many jobs that are harder. Many are on the so-called “front lines” and teachers are not really on the front lines as research shows children are not transmitting the virus, so why have schools been closed, on reduced hours, online?

Just stop with the whining and freaking out — “do your job” as many of us have to without the option of not working, doing it online, etc. If you want levies to pass, people need to hear less whining and more work, and stop with the whole nonsense “you’re on the front line,” please. You’re not winning anyone over. Also stick to teaching the three R’s and let parents handle the rest.
