Sorry this is late in coming, but this was a difficult one....

Our Hero, our Brother, our Father, our Opa, and our friend, Clifford Daniel Ownbey, who was born to the late Clifford Aaron and Ella Ownbey, on October 21st, 1926, in Boise Idaho has crossed over. He is now dancing with his true love, his wife, Helga "Eva" Ownbey, in Heaven. On February 16th of this year, he joined her, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

As a young boy, he grew up in logging camps in southern Idaho, briefly worked for the forest service, went to Boise Junior College, worked as a lineman, as a fireman, and for the railroad, but his true passion was a thirty year military career, which he began with the Navy at age 17. He was in with the first invasion fleet that hit the beach in Okinawa, during WW2. When his time with the Navy was complete, he enlisted in the Army, and served in both, the Korean and the Vietnam wars. During his military career he was hand selected for the first, and the honor graduate of the first, Green Beret Class to go through Fort Bragg North Carolina's Special Forces. He was also in the 82nd airborne, spoke fluent Korean, and received numerous military achievements, awards and metals. He served in the US Army intelligence for the last fifteen years of his military service for our country. He and his wife Eva, then retired to their Cocolalla property, which they loved dearly.

Following his retirement from the military, he was employed by the Bonner County Sheriff's Office as their Marine Deputy, for the ten years. After retiring from the sheriff's office, he spent many years enjoying his life, with his family and friends on his Cocolalla mountain property. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved the wilderness. He was gifted artistically, he loved to play music, and could play any instrument handed to him. He and was exceptional on the guitar, banjo, keyboard and practical joking. He was also an outstanding artist, who enjoyed drawing with pen and ink. He was excellent at western scenery, and his cartoon army, the "Belgarians" will be lost without him. His incredible sense of humor will be greatly missed, and dinners will never be the same, as the dinner table was one of his favorite stages.... We will miss him deeply, until we meet again, you are loved more than you know.

He is survived by his loving family...

His younger brother, Jackson Ownbey, and his daughters Christina and Jill, and their families in Boise Idaho.

His son, Clifford T. Ownbey, and his wife Georgia, and their two sons, Clayton and James, and their families, in Post Falls Idaho.

His daughter, Heidi K. Ownbey-Hill, and her husband Davin (Cliff's caretaker), and their two children, Gabe and Madison, his dog, Jacky, in Rockford Washington. (and Jessica).

Love you Dad, you will always be our Hero!
