COUNTY: Voters get final say

| March 12, 2021 1:00 AM

What is wrong with exploring options and structures of county government? After all, any recommendations would be submitted for vote by our citizens.

Now the KCRCC opposes any change and combats this by insisting on replacing designated independent citizens with safe litmus tested designees like their members. I don’t know if the Chamber of Commerce is independent.

This is the very same group who used half the Town Hall Legislator forum to litmus test them on abortion and more while letting them skate on the budget, tax relief, unfunded mandates and what is happening with the state surplus.

Forcing who can be a committee member must mean they want to control outcomes.

Unlike the Rathdrum citizen who is disappointed in Bill Brooks, I have been impressed by his pragmatic and businesslike approach.

We should not allow a singular voice to suppress even the study of efficient government for possible adoption.

Has the KCRCC improved the performance of the DMV license bureau? I can’t get through to the tax assessor on the phone, but I got Bill Brooks!

The commissioners were elected. Let them work independently to run operations and stop playing autocratic politics.
