WAGES: Let free market decide
Same old minimum wage arguments. Yes Mr. Buckanhour situation is not a good one. He is in a place resulting from circumstances and decisions both in and out of his control. So why not make a $30 minimum? Make life a little better for Mr. Buckanhour and millions like him. Because even more millions will lose their jobs like 1.7 million that are projected by the Congressional Budget Office with a $15 minimum.
What do you say to them? If your paper is going to take a stance on $15 why not address the others impacted. Let the high school or college student who’s trying to make a little extra for clothes or books know when they lose their job — tough.
The free market has had a impact on the wage. Many places already pay higher. Why? Good business decisions that are right for them and their employees.
