HOUSING: Costs through the roof

| March 10, 2021 1:00 AM

The housing costs in little ol’ Coeur d’Alene have gone from reasonable to the extremes of absurdity. I noticed a listing for a home with less than 900 square feet for more than a half million dollars. This is totally outlandish and to make it more laughable, it isn’t even a new home.

Have we become California?

Obviously, sky is the limit when listing home prices. We know there is a housing shortage because of past articles listing the same and I realize supply and demand is driving home prices to preposterous heights, but who will draw the line on this issue? Certainly not the Realtors who make a good commission off these home prices when they sell and the banks who make their money off the loans.

So I guess it will be the buying public, when they can’t afford a down payment or a loan the bank won’t give them. Is there a message here?
