LAKELAND: Students come first

| March 5, 2021 1:00 AM

Lakeland School District practices the epitome of putting students first. Building connections with students is at the forefront of every decision made. Programs that are available in this district enrich the experience that our kids are offered. Voting yes for the replacement levy means that all of these programs and the caring staff that provide these opportunities can remain in place and offer our kids stability after such a tough year. With the proper amount of staff available to provide support that is necessary, our kids get the individual attention that they need and thrive because of it.

Being the parent of a student in the district, as well as an educator in the district gives me the unique frame of mind to see this from both perspectives. As a parent of a student in the district, I greatly appreciate the programs and sports that are available to our kids. These activities keep her busy and challenge her to reach her full potential.

When I see a student proud of the work that they have done, no matter how much help they got, I am reminded that the connections are the most important part. Without proper staffing and the paraprofessionals that I, and the other SWD teachers in the district, work with, we would not be able to provide what our students need. I urge you to vote YES on March 9.
