Shari E. Galliher

| March 3, 2021 1:00 AM

Shari E. Galliher was born on April 30, 1964, in Montague City, Mass., to Max L. and Martha J. Sumner. She was the cutest little red head who was joined by her 2 year old brother. She passed away on Jan. 12, 2021, in Hayden, Idaho.

Shari's parents heard wonderful things about Idaho from a relative, and in 1966 they decided to move their family, first to Coeur d'Alene, then later to Wolf Lodge, where her father built a home for their family.

In her youth Shari enjoyed water skiing, swimming, snow skiing, camping and jogging, and ran the Bloomsday and Spring Dash races. She loved music and learned to play the upright piano that a relative had given to the family. But her main love was horses. She joined 4-H with her Morgan horse, Rocky, that her parents bought for her. She spent much of her free time riding her horse in the hills of Wolf Lodge.

While in high school she participated in track and field; she ran the hurdles and was also in PowderPuff football.

She graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1982, then moved to Alaska a few years later, where she met and married her children's father, John Galliher. In 1995, she moved back to Idaho with her family. Soon after her divorce, she and her two children moved to Hayden, where she went to work at Taco Bell and continued to work there until her death.

When her children were growing up, Shari worked two, sometimes three jobs to provide everything they needed. Whenever she could, she'd take the kids to the lake in the summertime, and she attended the kids' various school functions during the school year. When the kids were young they made a trip to Disneyland.

Shari preferred the quiet, stay-at-home life. She loved reading books and was a movie buff. She also loved spending time with her dogs and talking with her friends from Alaska. Shari will be remembered for her kindness, witty humor, and strong work ethic.

Shari is survived by her son, Dyton Galliher (Alex); her daughter, Brandi Galliher; grandsons Theo and Zachary; her sister, Michelle, of Rathdrum; her mother, Martha, of Coeur d'Alene; and her nieces, nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Max Sumner and her brothers, David and Mike Sumner.

Due to COVID, a celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date.
