WSU announces 2021 football schedule

PULLMAN — The Pac-12 Conference has released its 2021 football schedule and Washington State will play seven home games, including four Pac-12 games and three nonconference contests.

The Cougars open the 2021 campaign with three-straight games in Martin Stadium, the first coming against Utah State, Sept. 4.

Portland State comes to Pullman the following week, Sept. 11.

Pac-12 play begins Sept. 18, when the Cougars host USC.

The Cougars’ first road contest comes Sept. 25 with a visit to Utah — the thirdstraight year the Cougars will travel to Salt Lake City for the matchup.

Washington State returns to Pullman for three consecutive home games beginning Oct. 9 when it hosts Oregon State.

Stanford comes to Pullman the following week, Oct. 16.

The final nonconference game for WSU has BYU coming to Pullman Oct. 26.

WSU plays three of its final four games on the road, beginning with an Oct. 30 matchup at Arizona State.

Following a bye, the Cougs travel to Oregon on Nov. 13.

WSU’s final home game of the 2021 campaign is Friday, Nov. 19 when it hosts Arizona.

The regular season concludes Friday, Nov. 26 at Washington in the Apple Cup. For the fourth time in the last five meetings, the game will be played the Friday following Thanksgiving.

Kickoff times and television schedules will be announced at a later date.

November

6 — Bye. 13 — at Oregon. 19 — vs. ARIZONA. 26 — at Washington.

December

3 — Pac-12 championship game at Las Vegas.

Idaho's Warren named

Defensive Player of the Week

For the first time this season Kennedy Warren has been named the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Warren was recognized for her offense earlier this season and was named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the week, but this week she is recognized for her defensive effort.

Warren, a junior, totaled 23 digs and 11 total blocks on the week in a series split at Montana.

The Weatherford, Texas native averaged 2.5 digs per set and 1.2 blocks per set to help lead the Vandals' defensive effort.

In game two the Vandals won 3-1 and held the Griz to a .104 hitting percentage. In that contest Warren had nine digs and eight total blocks, including one solo. She was just one dig and two blocks away from a triple-double in game two. Warren notched 14 digs in game one, earning a double-double.

In addition to her stellar defensive effort on the week, Warren also excelled on the offensive side of the ball, notching a team-high 13 and 18 kills in games one and two, respectively.

The Vandals will return to Moscow for a pair of matches against Montana State beginning on Sunday.

called off by COVID

The upcoming games between Idaho and Montana on Thursday and Saturday have been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols within the Idaho men’s basketball program.

At this time, Big Sky Conference games that are canceled will not be rescheduled.
