DINNER: Last laughs — and thanks

| March 3, 2021 1:00 AM

One recent evening three of my friends and I were dining at Applebee’s. As the hostess seated us she explained that we would be given only one menu and we could use the code displayed on the table to access the full menu on our cellphones.

Being technically challenged at our age, we didn’t know if we should take a photo of the scan code or somehow scan it onto our phones another way. We were all laughing and carrying on as we fought each other in an attempt to get the menu onto our phone.

I glanced up at a man having dinner with his teenage daughter nearby who was chuckling about us. He came over and said that he wasn’t really making fun of us and gave us his menu.

When we told the waitress that we were ready for our bill, she informed us that he had paid our entire bill, which we figured would have been about $100! We were absolutely speechless and so very grateful to this kind gentleman. I pray that he will be rewarded sevenfold for his generosity.
