ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Louis Powell, Northern Lakes Mountaineers

Louis Powell

The shortstop hit five home runs, three triples, two doubles and drove in 21 runs in 10 games for the Mountaineers last week. "Louis is a guy that I have leaned on this year as our veteran leader," Northern Lakes coach Bryce Johnson said. "I have put a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders and he hasn’t flinched one time; he’s risen and embraced the challenge. Louis took on the challenge of becoming a pitcher this summer because we needed another arm, and he’s dominated; he is a flat-out competitor and warrior. This last week wasn’t a coincidence, he puts in more work than any kid I have seen at his age, he’s extremely driven and a really high-character young man."
