RATHDRUM — With temperatures reaching triple-digits and no near relief in sight, community members are seeking cool places to spend their days.

The Rathdrum Senior and Community Center, 8037 Montana St., provides meals and recreation to locals in the community.

The extreme heat has caused a temporary shutdown of services. Center officials announced Monday that they will be closed through Saturday.

Those seeking to find respite from the heat can still find relief.

Residents are invited to visit the cooling center that is available from now through Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 15151 N. Meyer Road in Rathdrum.

The cooling center will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
