HAYDEN: Addressing issues
Communities thrive when people work together to solve problems, address issues and improve it for the better. It is unfortunate that Mr. Johansen chose to instead call the mayor names and state half facts at best.
I sit on two committees that are working toward improving Honeysuckle beach and launch for everyone. It is not an easy fix.
We could buy multi-million dollar homes and turn them into a parking lot but then our citizens would not enjoy the lowest property tax levy for a city our size in the state.
You, of course, have a right to your opinion but wouldn’t we gain ground by hearing some other ideas from you instead of name calling?
A fact you didn’t explain is that the $40 you mentioned is a season-long launch pad, it is not for parking. Those fees are used only for maintenance on the launch and docks.
Sewer fees went up because of a frivolous lawsuit but the bulk of the increase was to meet new regulations that the EPA put on us.
If you have some ideas, please let us know, but attacking a man who has given so much to the city is not the right way to solve problems.
