U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup: Timbers, Thorns teams play to ties

SALT LAKE CITY — The Timbers North FC 04 boys soccer team closed out group play at the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup with a 1-1 draw against Aggies FC of Utah on Friday.

Noah Janzen scored the Timbers’ lone goal. assisted by Nolan Angell.

The Timbers finished the tournament 0-1-2 in group play in the U17 division.

The Thorns North FC 06 girls battled to a 2-2 tie with Santos SC of Arizona in their final match. Macie Lilyquist and Natalie Thompson each had a goal for the Thorns, and Sally Gatten and Taylor Miller each had assists.

The Thorns finished the tourney 0-2-1 in group play in the U15 division.

The Timbers North FC 05 boys suffered their first loss of the tourney Friday, falling 3-2 to Cruz Azul of Utah.

Bryce Allred had one goal and one assist for the Timbers, who won their first two games in the U16 division. Cooper Prohaska scored once for the Timbers.

Despite the loss, the Timbers advance to the semifinals and play the Aggies FC of Oregon in the semifinals today.
