BIAS: Shows up again

| June 16, 2021 1:00 AM

You kindly printed my letter on June 2 regarding “McGeachin bans mask mandates.” Now I read on June 9 an AP article titled “Far-right Idaho Republicans battle to control party, state.”

Though you admitted that your “staff” erred in not removing opinions from the June 2 AP article, it would appear that the only lesson learned from my letter to The Press was to remove “staff” from byline and instead publish word for word from the AP.

In the June 9 article, the AP used the terms far-right, right-wing and ultra-conservative 13 times. According to the AP, the far right wants to “outlaw all abortions, dictate what is taught in schools, have complete say over public health rules and gun laws, and take control of federal public lands.” Are those items not what the far-left already controls in this country?

They took away states rights to decide on abortion, they dictate what is taught in schools, they dictate health and gun rules, and those “federal lands” the article mentions are lands which were confiscated from within state boundaries. Your bias continues to be shown.

Would you please just report facts and leave the conclusions up to the readers to make? Or is it that you believe we are all stupid and must be told what to conclude?

BEVERLY CAIN
