Nancy Marie Backman, 75

Nancy Marie Backman was born on Feb. 9, 1946, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Dorothy Marie Hoskins and Earl Everett Domeny. She passed from this life on Monday, June 7, 2021 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, having reached the age of 75 years, three months and 29 days.

Her early life was not always an easy one. She faced many obstacles, but Nancy was a survivor and overcame them all. On June 17, 1971, Nancy was blessed with the adoption of her daughter, Vicki Lynn. In 1976 she met the love of her life, Aron Backman. On May 4, 1979 they were joined in Holy Matrimony in Lake Tahoe, Nev., and Aron, Nancy, Vicki and Michael became a family. They later renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas, Nev., on July 15, 2002. They recently celebrated being together 45 years.

Nancy was raised in the Bressie Community, south of Ponca City, and graduated from Marland High School in 1964. She resided in Ponca City, Okla., until meeting Aron. She enjoyed the opportunity to live in many areas around the country, including Republic, Wash., for 17 years, returning to Webb City, Okla., in 2007, and then moving to Temple, Texas, in 2014 where she resided until March 2021 when she moved to Idaho.

Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She spent most of her life working in hospitals and nursing homes, starting her nursing assistant career in Oklahoma in 1964 as a Medical Technician. She received the State Award for Care as the Washington State Outstanding Nursing Assistant in 2000. She retired in 2004.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Aron Backman of Pinehurst, Idaho; her daughter, Vicki Walls of Killeen, Texas; her son, Michael Backman of Pinehurst, Idaho; a sister, Norma Bertrem of Edmond, Okla.; a brother, Charles Domeny and wife, Sandy of Ralston, Okla.; four step-siblings; five brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law; six grandchildren: Brittny Cannon and Tayler Martin of Temple, Texas, Kensli Starkey of Killeen, Texas, Zak Turner, Connor Backman and Michael Backman of Spokane, Wash.; and two great grandchildren: Marli Harder and Tyson Briggs of Temple, Texas; three nieces and three nephews; and many other loving relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy Domeny; a nephew, Robert Domeny; a niece, Ann Marie Cohen; a granddaughter, Liberty Lynn; and two brothers-in-law: James Bertrem and Jerry Backman.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2021 at Hewett~Arney Funeral Home in Temple, Texas.
