COEUR d'ALENE — The Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission is seeking artists to participate in its ArtCurrents program.

The call is titled, "Coeur d’Alene ArtCurrents 2021."

Artists are invited to submit applications for placement of their sculptures around downtown Coeur d’Alene and Riverstone for a period of one year with an option to renew for a second year. The displayed works will also be offered for sale, with the city of Coeur d’Alene receiving a 25% commission from the sale.

The selected artists or teams of artists will be paid a stipend of $1,000 for the first year. A second stipend of no less than $600 will be paid to the artists at the start of the second year. ArtCurrents pieces are displayed along Sherman Avenue, Lakeside Avenue, Coeur d'Alene City Park and the Riverstone area.

"Public art can be a change agent for the community," states a June 2 announcement from the city. "It creates and enhances neighborhood and community identity. It enhances the visual landscape and character of the city. It turns ordinary spaces into community landmarks and promotes community dialogue and, most importantly, it’s accessible to everyone."

Applications must be received through the CaFÉ website at www.callforentry.org no later than 5 p.m. July 9.

Installation of the artwork will begin in October.
