LEGION BASEBALL: Lums' game called off due to poor field conditions

RICHLAND, Wash. — The Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen’s scheduled game with the Richland Reign club team was called off Sunday due to unsafe field conditions on the Reign's home field.

Lums coach Darren Taylor said his team, which played a doubleheader in Yakima the night before, showed up Sunday morning to a field that hadn’t been maintained, infield grass that hadn’t been mown in a while, among other potential safety issues. The Lums expressed their concerns, and the Richland coach agreed, Taylor said.

With the seniors on the Richland team having other obligations later in the day, there was no time to move the game to a better field elsewhere in the Tri-Cities, Taylor said.

He said the Lums hope to reschedule the game later in the season.

Coeur d’Alene is scheduled to return to action Wednesday at home vs. the Lewis-Clark Twins in a 5 p.m. doubleheader at Thorco Field.
