NEW FRIEND: Why we live here

On Thursday I was shopping at Super 1 Hayden and realized after the checkout clerk had run my purchases through that I didn’t have my wallet with me. After Brian OK’d me, I was allowed to go home and get the necessary money.

Before I could leave, though, the checkout clerk said, “The man behind you paid for your groceries.” I didn’t know him. I shook his hand and said, “Thank you.” He said, “You’re welcome.”

I thought to myself as I headed home, this is why we moved here 24 years ago. Not to have someone pay for our groceries, but to have people genuinely look after their neighbor.

I will probably never meet him again, but thanks, good friend.
