POST FALLS - Crews from Kootenai County Fire and Rescue and other agencies battled and controlled a 25-acre wildfire in western Post Falls on Friday afternoon.

The blaze was reported at 1:17 p.m. and located between Pleasant View and Beck roads, north of Seltice Way and south of Prairie Avenue, KCFR reported.

"The fire was initially fast-moving through brush and tall grass but is under control at this point," KCFR Fire Chief Christopher Way said in a news release.

Idaho Department of Lands and the Spokane County Fire Department assisted with the fire, which remains under investigation.

"This unprecedented wildfire season is just beginning," Way said. "We have several weeks of hot and dry weather left ... please be careful!"
