SCHOOLS: Guilty or ignorant

| July 30, 2021 1:00 AM

The Coeur d’Alene School Board and administration are either deceiving us, or they are approving programs being ignorant of facts. I hope it is the latter.

Dr. Cook stated during the special meeting on June 29, 2020, that the Equity Framework does not teach values, yet on page four is stated the system will “align decision making with equity values and goals.”

Scott Maben, communication director, tells us it is not teaching Critical Race Theory. Yet the Equity Framework on page 8 references the National Equity Project.org that touts “rebel leadership,” highlights a Black Lives Matters protest with signs of the BLM power fist, and features an article titled, “It’s not Complicated-White People Must Do Their Part to Dismantle White Supremacy.”

We’re told that a student’s mastery assessment of the six equity goals will not be on report cards. Yet on page 21 of the Framework it states, “…and report cards must align with formative and summative assessments in the singular purpose of reporting student progress toward mastery.”

We know individual students will be assessed for data purposes and results will be recorded in a student’s file. Do you believe these student assessments will be secure in the era of data breaching? A child’s future can easily be destroyed! The Equity Framework and Portrait of a Graduate will be ingrained in every class and subject so students cannot opt out. Hopefully, parents can opt-out of the assessment.

Investigate, question and attend the next Coeur d’Alene Board Meeting on Aug. 2 at 5 p.m.
