LEGION BASEBALL: Lums Red to play for Washington AA title

SPOKANE — Braeden Newby, Nolan Christ and Cam Davey delivered consecutive singles in the bottom of the first inning, leading the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen Red to a 5-2 win over the Yakima Valley Peppers in a semifinal game of the Washington state AA tournament at Al K. Jackson Field on Thursday.

Coeur d’Alene (29-11-2) will face the Lynden Lightning today at 4 p.m. in the championship game, with an if-necessary game to follow should Coeur d’Alene lose its first game of the tournament.

Coeur d’Alene extended the advantage to 4-0 on an RBI single by Jesse Brown to score Paxon Bunch.

Lynden beat Mt. Spokane 10-8 in a loser-out game earlier on Thursday.
