Joshua T. Forbes, 30

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce our beloved family member and friend, Joshua Thomas Forbes, age 30, passed suddenly on July 25, 2021. Josh was a devoted father to a beautiful daughter, Payten, and loving partner to fiancé, Alysa Edwards. He was a brother and best friend to Zachary and Jeremy Forbes, a beloved son to Kim and Dirk Van Der Kolk, Todd and Liz Forbes and a much-loved cousin, nephew and grandson.

Born on September 10, 1990, in Valencia, Calif., Josh moved to Coeur d’Alene with his mom and brothers at the age of 3. In his early years Josh developed a love for playing roller hockey, football, karate and watersports with family on Lake Coeur d'Alene. He enjoyed a fun-filled childhood growing up at the family horse ranch and bed and breakfast in Hayden, Idaho.

With a heart as big as he was, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for those closest to him. Josh was a skilled lineman of five years and journeyman of two years. He traveled the nation bravely working on some of the most treacherous lineman jobs and courageously serving the needs of others across the country.

From the day she was born, daughter Payten was the center of his universe. Josh cherished sweet moments of her painting his nails and playing dress-up together—committed to anything for her happiness. She was the guiding light that led his journey through life and his many accomplishments were devoted to her.

Josh’s observant nature influenced his many interests, which he shared with fiancé Alysa. Their passion for travel brought them across the country attending sporting events and visiting family as their love for one another flourished. They shared a loving home in Colorado with their Great Dane, Franklen, and Josh always found ways to make their time together special. After introducing Alysa to Payten and his Mama Kim, the three most important ladies in his life created an affectionate bond that will last a lifetime.

He had an ability to uplift others through his unwavering loyalty, providing stability for his family and friends. Josh’s stature was impressive, though he never needed to be the center of attention—always playing a supportive role in the lives of those around him. Josh’s quiet strength will always be remembered and admired by the lives he touched in his time here on earth.

Josh’s mother, Kim, and fiancé, Alysa would like to invite you to a memorial celebration of his life at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, at Yates Funeral Home - Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, Idaho, with the reception to follow.
