LEGION BASEBALL: Lums Red headed to Washington AA semifinals

SPOKANE — Nathan Brillhart and Braeden Newby had two RBIs each as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen Red beat the Mt. Spokane Wild 8-5 on Wednesday at Al K. Jackson Field to advance to the Washington state AA semifinals.

Newby allowed two hits in 3 ⅔ scoreless innings of relief, striking out two.

Coeur d’Alene broke a 5-5 tie as Jesse Brown scored on an error to make it 6-5. Coeur d’Alene added two more runs in the fifth inning on bases loaded walks to Newby and Nolan Christ.

Coeur d’Alene (28-11-2) will face the Yakima Valley Peppers tonight at 7. Lynden and Mt. Spokane will play in the other semifinal at 4 p.m.

SPOKANE — Kannon Knight had two hits and three RBIs for the Lums Navy, who fell short to the Lynden Lightning in a loser-out game in the Washington state AA tournament at Al K. Jackson Field.

AJ Currie had two RBIs for Coeur d’Alene, which finished 31-14.
