Alice Mary (Fischer) Schlener, age 96

Alice Mary Schlener, a Post Falls resident since 2004, died on July 22, 2021, at the age of 96. Alice enjoyed excellent health until June 1, 2021, when a series of related health conditions ensued which led to her death.

Alice, born on Sept. 19, 1924, was the third oldest of the 11 children to survive infancy born to Wendelin and Margaret Fischer of Hazelton, N.D. She lived in Hazelton and Bismarck, N.D, into young adulthood.

In Bismarck, Alice married Francis (Frank) Gerald Schlener on Oct. 5, 1944. Through the next 15 years, Frank and Alice resided in North Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana as they relocated with Frank’s employment - until 1968 when they moved to Prescott, Ariz., where Frank established his own business. Alice lived in Prescott and Surprise, Ariz., until her move to Post Falls in 2004.

Alice is survived by her daughters, Susan Demmert and Dolores (Thomas) Taleck, and sons, Fredric Schlener and Michael Schlener. She had 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Those who preceded her in death are her husband, Frank, in 1986, and her daughter, Lenore, in 2015, as well as numerous members of the Fischer family.

Alice was a life-long Traditional Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls, Idaho since 2004. Alice moved to Idaho from Surprise, Ariz., at the age of 80. A Requiem High Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021, at the Church starting with reception, Rosary at 10:30 a.m. followed by 11 a.m. Mass and burial following at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
