NIC announces Clasen as

assistant wrestling coach

COEUR d'ALENE — North Idaho College athletic director Bobby Lee announced that Chase Clasen will be the Cardinals’ new assistant wrestling coach.

“The respect he has earned in the northwest wrestling community as a recruiter and coach will be a great asset for our program,” Lee said in a news release.

Clasen, a Moses Lake, Wash., native, placed three times at the state wrestling tournament, and was a two-time placer at Tri-State, held annually at NIC. He then wrestled for Iowa Western Community College and at NCAA Division II Chadron State College in Nebraska.

At Chadron, Clasen was a two-time national qualifier, a two-time conference finalist (one of those times a conference champion), and he was dubbed both an NCAA wrestling All-American and an Academic All-American his senior year. After earning his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, Clasen spent a season as the graduate assistant coach at Chadron. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in organizational leadership.
