SCHOOLS: Doing nothing right
After a career in the USAF, and while pursuing further education, I taught for five years in the public schools of California. I left when I learned that I was expected to become a victim and accept endless substandard conditions.
Examples: When my fellow teachers opted to wear sweat pants in the classroom, I saw that they were demeaning ‘our’ profession. Teachers couldn’t remove kids from their classes — they must accept the resultant chaos and poor class academic results. Such are typical public education ‘standards!’
As a pilot, I learned that if it’s broken, fix it. However, district leaders pretend they are in charge and, amazingly get paid huge salaries — without accountability. Supposed lawsuits were the usual excuse for not initiating obvious improvements.
Districts accept the process of teaching — then testing, then forgetting everything learned as if it’s some kind of joke. 48% can’t read at grade level (in ID) upon HS graduation! Rating of schools isn’t accomplished, leaving every school to claim mere adequacy — a catastrophe for our youth!
We are at a crossroads! Any thoughts of our weak public school leadership accepting the onslaught of union nonsense like Critical Race Theory (CRT) is foolhardy! Our public schools control 90% of our kids, and are under the same union control that unnecessarily directed districts to mostly close for a year.
We must have new real leadership at the helm of our Kootenai public schools. Superintendents, school boards, campus leadership and legions of teachers without backbones must be replaced. External financial audits of districts and TV monitors in classrooms are critical.
