DOWNTOWN: Consider pedestrian-only

| July 23, 2021 1:00 AM

Boulder, Colo., is the most livable city in America, for the second straight year. When Sam Weaver, mayor of the town, was asked what the city did to win two years in a row, he said the single most important thing they did was to make downtown pedestrian only!

They carved out an area in downtown for walking only. Guess what happened? Restaurants and non-restaurants both saw increases in business. Nils Rosdahl even mentioned a partial closure in his recent column in The Press.

Picture restaurants on Sherman expanding their outdoor seating, senseless noise eliminated, kiosks paying rent to the city and increased business. Food for thought.
