Dorothy Deckard, 72

Dorothy R. Deckard, age 72, passed away at her home in Post Falls, Idaho, surrounded by her family after a sudden illness. Dorothy was born in Miles City, Mont. As a young child, her family moved to Spokane, Wash. She attended school there and graduated from Rogers High School.

Following graduation Dorothy pursued a career as a flight attendant. She met and married her husband of 45 years, Calvin Deckard. The couple had two sons and over the years they made their home in Loon Lake, Wash., Medical Lake, Wash., Emida, Idaho, Spokane, and then finally Post Falls, Idaho. She then ventured into a career as a Lead Annuity Specialist.

Dorothy enjoyed hunting, fishing, huckleberry picking, mushroom hunting and loved traveling; she was fortunate enough to have many adventures throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Her favorites were North Dakota and Alaska to see her boys, daughters-in-law, grandkids and granddogs. Dorothy was a very talented artist and painter which is enjoyed by family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her sons and spouses, Jeff Deckard and wife Shelly (North Pole, Alaska), Jay Deckard and wife Kim (Post Falls, Idaho), grandsons Austin (AJ) Deckard, Jordan Thormahlen, Baylee Thormahlen, Wyatt Deckard, Colbey Deckard and two great-grandsons, Addison and Colt and brother Dave Mason. She is preceded in death by her husband Calvin Deckard, her parents Robert and Maizie Mason, Sister Darlene Litchfield and Brother Don Mason.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St. in Post Falls. A reception will follow immediately after.
