COEUR d’ALENE — A man died Monday after he reportedly jumped from a local bridge.

Deputies with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded around 3 p.m. Monday to a report that a man had jumped from the Veterans Memorial Centennial Bridge.

Police said they recovered the body of a man in his 30s.

The man’s name had not been released late Monday.

Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris said he wished to express his condolences to the man’s family.

Help is available to North Idaho residents who are struggling with mental illness or substance abuse, he said.

“There are many nonprofits that have outreach programs for substance abuse and depression,” Norris said Monday.

The North Idaho Crisis Center at 2195 Ironwood Court in Coeur d’Alene offers free, confidential help for people who are having a mental health crisis or substance abuse problems.
