CRT: Emphasis on ‘theory’

| July 9, 2021 1:00 AM

In response to what is Critical Race Theory (CRT), it is difficult to explain it with only 250 words.

Simply put, it is a theory, just as Darwinism is a theory or the Christian theory of evolution and in some schools both theories of evolution have to be taught.

Don’t you find it strange that teachers have to teach the Christian theory of evolution? Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?

CRT holds that the law and legal institutions in the United States are inherently racist insofar as they function to create and maintain social, economic and political inequalities between whites and nonwhites. It should be a concern to ALL people when state legislatures begin to ban ideas as some states have banned the teaching of CRT.

Isn’t that a form of indoctrination by not teaching it? I have seen signs that people think schools are indoctrinating students. Isn’t saying the Pledge of Allegiance every morning a form of indoctrination?

Public schools are public and are for all students and just some students. To go to a charter school, you have to apply to the school. The charter school can pick and choose; not so with the public schools. Have you ever seen a mentally challenged student or a student who has autism in a charter school?

Think about it. I am almost at the max of 250 words so in summary, if we don’t learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.
