A father and daughter were cited for "negligent operations" following an accident involving the personal watercrafts they were riding on the Spokane River Wednesday afternoon.

Kootenai County Sheriff's Office marine deputies, along with Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, responded to the area near Greensferry Road for a minor-injury crash about noon.

"During the investigation it was determined the two riders had rented the PWCs and were operating them within close proximity of one another and at speeds faster than allowed on the river (over 35 mph)," said a KCSO press release.

The man and the 16-year-old from Wenatchee, Wash., were both issued citations, the release said.
