EDITORIAL: Press way off base

What is wrong with you? I cannot believe that after domestic terrorists attacked the Capitol and would have attacked our representatives and senators, had they found them, that you would use almost one half of the FRONT PAGE of your newspaper for an editorial on Jan. 24 saying that we should move on and mentioning that some people still believe that the election was fraudulent. Words fail me, honestly.

Let me quote your editorial then:

You talk about “Biden’s base” as if it were this monolithic thing. “Biden’s Base” did not attack the Capitol.

You talk about “another wall being built.” It’s not building a wall to agree that these were criminal acts which should be prosecuted, including the remarks of the former president and his family and his cronies, which incited a mob to riot in hopes of overturning a democratically elected president of the United States. He doesn’t get to be “let off the hook” when his goal was to intimidate elected officials to do his will instead of the will of the people.

You also talk about an election that some believe to be illegitimate, without mentioning that it WAS NOT. Further spreading untruths. If you were going to run this editorial, which was so wrong and ill-advised, it should have been on the inside editorial page.

We expect more from you. We expect the truth. We are on the brink of canceling our subscription, something I never thought I would do.
