David Robert Mix, 55

| January 23, 2021 1:00 AM

David Robert Mix, age 55, of Milwaukie, Ore., passed away Dec. 17, 2020, after a short battle with neuroendocrine cancer, with his loving wife, Aindrea, at his side.

David was born on Oct. 18, 1965, in Seattle, Wash. When he was 3, his family moved to Gresham, Ore., where his little brother, Steven, joined the family. At age 6, the family relocated to Hayden Lake, Idaho, where David started first grade and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School.

Growing up, David loved riding BMX bikes (summer and winter), sledding on Chicken Hill, snow skiing, getting into a little mischief and spending time with family and friends at the cabin in Montana.

David was passionate about stereos and music. After graduating from high school he found his dream career at Stereo King in Portland, where he worked for 35 years and was known to all as ‘Stereo King Dave.’ When he wasn’t working, David loved spending time with wife, family and friends, playing in the sun, on the water, or off-roading on the sand dunes on the Oregon Coast, Lake Billy Chinook, or at the cabin in Montana. Dave loved to travel and was always ready for a trip to Las Vegas or Cabo San Lucas.

He is survived by his wife, Aindrea Mix; cherished daughter, Payton Mix and stepsons, Kyle and Kody; brother, Steven Mix (Sandpoint, Idaho); nephew, Hunter Mix; mother and stepfather, Gwen and Richard Grieb (Hayden Lake); father and mother-in-law, Bill and Kay Wright (Oregon); and several cousins, Tami, Lisa, Krista, Craig and their families, along with special family friends, the Morgans.

In July 2014, David met his wife on a camping trip at Mount Hood RV Village. Aindrea was camping with her boys and David was with his daughter and some of his friends. Payton and Kody happened to attend the same primary school and used to play together at recess. Later on that evening, we all hung out around the group campfire together.

Just a few, short weeks later, Dave and Aindrea went out on their first date and just like that … never left each other's side. They were married in September of 2017 and shared a lifetime of happiness together.

David was preceded in death by his father, David L. Mix; grandmother, Bernice Altman; grandparents, Robert “Bert” and Alvina Thomas; and aunt and uncle, Jacqueline and Floyd Ayers.

We will miss his special smile, his energy and enthusiasm. He was a very special man. There will be a family gathering this summer at the cabin in Montana.
