SHERIFF: Do your job
I had high hopes that our new sheriff would continue Sheriff Wolfinger’s reputation for effective leadership. Perhaps Norris needs information about COVID.
59% of those afflicted are symptom free and may well be the reason we have triple numbers of new cases every day in Kootenai County and an increased overload on our health care systems. Folks with underlying conditions may look perfectly healthy, but are not. We ALL need protection from exposure, which is an integral part of safety.
Personal feelings about how this should happen IS NOT part of your job, Sheriff. Please refer to the article in The Press explaining to you what IS your job and why it is your job. You don’t get to pick and choose what laws/mandates you have to enforce.
I am so appalled that you would take this stance just days into your elected term. You DO NOT represent the large number of folks over 70 and others who have compromised health issues, when you refuse to do your job and protect us not only from criminals but those who refuse to follow the rules and not wear masks, socially distance, etc.
Whoever is your boss needs to step up and educate you about the need to do the right thing for the sake of the community you are supposed to serve. If you don’t want to be an effective leader and enforcer, a recall is in order. Please put your political and personal beliefs aside, this is a health issue, not a political one.
