RIVERSTONE: Growth’s blemish

| January 16, 2021 1:00 AM

Re: 1/10/21 “Terraza Waterfront Café coming to Riverstone,” quality of life in Cd’A is quickly becoming a thing of the past. The Riverstone development has been built out with homes and businesses to the point where street parking is no longer available for many residents or visitors. Ingress and egress of heavy traffic due to substandard planning is already a reality.

Commercial owners and developers don’t live where they work and couldn’t care less about the mess they leave behind. In the spring, Terraza will open with an occupancy capable of 110 customers. Add Le Peep next door and you have a recipe for terrible vehicle congestion, an increase in burglary from motor vehicles, and a build-up of trash and all the policing issues that come from a congested city environment.

The city has taken away street parking. I’m guessing that the developers will follow downtown Cd’A’s plan and soon make the only two parking lots left “Pay Only.”

The Cd’A planning commission and City Council need to wake up and change their money-hungry revenue minds. Riverstone is not unique to what is happening throughout Cd’A. Soon, Cd’A will be nothing more than an overbuilt poorly run city with high taxes offering no reason to reside here any longer.

I, like many of you reading this, moved away from congested cities. Cd’A is turning into everything I moved away from.
