RALLY: Not your finest moment
Dear Citizens of Coeur d’Alene,
I lived in Coeur d’Alene for 10 years and moved away to pursue a career that is not possible in the beautiful Northwest, but I always hold a special place in my heart for the city that made me who I am; until now.
Reading about citizens standing on the side of the road promoting baseless claims of “rigged election” to support a man who incited treasonous violence on the Capitol of our great country has my faith in Coeur d’Alene shaken. When you claim to be a “patriot” and cheer at the news of violent MAGA conspirators storming the halls of Congress, those are the actions of a domestic terrorist.
I once bought a falsely advertised As-Seen-On-TV product that did not actually improve my life; this is the same as your support of this dictator-wanna-be over the last five years. It is OK to question your past support; admitting mistakes is the character of a noble person.
Please take this as a wake up call. Read the sources of the articles you choose to fill your perspective of the world with. Reject conspiracy theories designed to control your thoughts, reject fascism in all its faces, support science and diversity in your community. And, above all else, please think twice before cheering on the actions of domestic terrorists, because your children are watching you and the breeding ground of racist ignorance you are creating in Coeur d’Alene is not going unnoticed.
