ACADEMICS: Pass ‘good’ batons

| January 8, 2021 1:00 AM

As a family member, have you ever attended a son’s or daughter’s track and field meet? We have spent hours in spring weather, often cold and windy shivering for hours as we were there to support our children as they competed. Exerting themselves to the limits of their physical ability!

The pinnacle track events are the relay events (you should each attend a track meet) which involve four people, three of them passing the baton to the next runner — the last one who gets it runs his fastest to outrun all others! The most important part is the passing of the baton. If one drops it, the team cannot win the race.

As it is in the track race, so it pertains and is true in all life. Each of us is “passing the baton,” like it or not for good or for evil. Our children and friends and all we meet are watching and often learning to follow what we say or what we live like without us even knowing it.

As parents, friends, professors, teachers, Sunday school teachers, ministers, police, etc., do we teach truth, or do we teach them to be unholy and evil and tell lies?

Do all of our academics and others realize that if our country fails to stay free that it will be mostly due to their failure of teaching truth? Cease teaching lies! Stop passing “evil batons” knowing perfectly well what you are doing — attempting to destroy America with lies!

Above all, before you “pass the baton” to anybody you should make sure they have a “track” record to prove themselves.

Lastly, what baton are you passing, good or evil?
