POEM: Wish for ‘21
We want to wipe away others tears shed at night,
But never see them the morning after,
We long for the awaited kiss,
But never the meaningful conversations later,
Wanting the moments in the now,
But no one seems to want to follow through,
For what happens when tears have all been cried in a moment,
Then what do we do?
How do we address the day after,
How do we listen when we wake up,
How do we continue to touch a heart,
How do we continue to love?
When the moments have passed,
When we are not impassioned as we once were,
How do we begin the spark,
The lights to a lasting ember,
We want to be there for the tears,
We want to experience that kiss,
But until we can learn what to do with it after,
We will never be able to experience this,
For everyone wants the moments,
But let us remember this life is made of many of them,
Do not focus so much on one,
That we lose sight of the entire gem,
We lose sight of life every year,
That we long to so fervently understand,
It is my hope we not limit our moments to the past,
But commit to live a more meaningful and stronger life throughout 2021.
