| December 30, 2021 1:20 AM

BOISE — Madi Symons had 25 points, six rebounds and three steals for Coeur d’Alene, which closed the game on a 15-2 run to beat the Timberline Wolves 56-48 in the Timber-Lion Tournament on Wednesday at Timberline High.

Coeur d’Alene, which trailed 33-30 at halftime, outscored the host Wolves 15-7 in the final quarter to rally for the win.

Skylar Burke had 14 points and three rebounds and Madison Mitchell nine points, five steals and three assists for Coeur d’Alene (11-2), which concludes the tournament at Borah today at 12:45 p.m. PST. The Vikings made 12 of 15 free throws and hit 10 of 22 from the 3-point line. Symons was 5 of 6 from the 3-point line.

“We played really tentative and pretty bad yesterday,” Coeur d’Alene coach Nicole Symons said. “We’re young and inexperienced and we walked through some stuff and the girls answered the call. It was the first good team win and some of our young girls stepped up. Timberline’s good and strong and have two really good guards and we had to switch it up. We had to do a good job of understanding where their big was. Olivia (Naccarato and Kelsey (Carroll) really stepped in and helped. We had some kids hit some outside shots when we needed to.”

Sophia Glancey had 12 points and 14 rebounds and Aly Cox scored 14 points for Timberline (11-1), which finished the game 7 of 15 from the free throw line.
