New Year's bashes ahead

While waiting for the clock to strike midnight, locals can enjoy New Year's Eve festivities and fireworks not far from home.

The Coeur d’Alene Resort fireworks displays

The Coeur d’Alene Resort will be hosting two fireworks shows on Friday, one at 9 p.m. and the second show at midnight. While The Resort’s New Year’s Eve Party: Midnight Masquerade and cruises have sold out, the fireworks displays should be visible for all from many areas including City Beach.

Spokane Riverfront Park fireworks display

A free family-friendly fireworks display presented by Coca-Cola will take place at the Riverfront Park in Spokane, starting at 9 p.m. The fireworks will be launched near the clock tower. A pavilion winter light show will run from 4:30 to 10 p.m. There will be a digital display countdown next to the clock tower for the new year from 11 p.m. to midnight.

Rathdrum New Year’s Eve ball drop

Rathdrum Parks and Recreation will be hosting the annual New Year’s Eve ball drop starting at 8 p.m. on Main Street in Rathdrum. The ball drop will happen at 9 p.m. There will be prizes, party favors, music, photo booths, fire pits and refreshments at the family friendly event.

The Coeur d’Alene Eagles New Year’s Eve party

The Coeur d’Alene Eagles are hosting a party for everyone 21 and up in the ballroom on the third floor of their building at 209 E. Sherman Ave. There will be a full bar and room capacity for up to 175 people. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the Coeur d’Alene Big Band will play from 6 to 9 p.m. The champagne toast will be at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 and include party favors.

Parking lot party at the Hayden Library

Geared for kids ages 3 to 8, the Hayden Library is hosting a countdown to noon. From 11 a.m. to noon kids can explore the Discovery Bus and participate in activities. Hot chocolate, cookies and free books will be available.
