PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Viks fall short in Boise

BOISE — Junior Madi Symons had 23 points, 11 rebounds and five steals for Coeur d’Alene, which fell short to the Thunder Ridge Titans 54-52 in the opening game of the Timber-Lion Tournament on Tuesday at Timberline High.

Skylar Burke, the UC Santa Barbara signee, had 18 points and six rebounds for Coeur d’Alene, which shot 16 of 54 for the game. Thunder Ridge beat Coeur d’Alene 53-39 in the state 5A semifinals last year.

Aspen Caldwell scored 17 points for Thunder Ridge (10-1).

Coeur d’Alene (10-2) faces Timberline tonight at 7.

LEWISTON — Capri Sims had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Trojans in a win over the Bantams in the Avista Winter Classic at Lewis-Clark State College.

“Our pressure got to them a little more in the second quarter,” said Post Falls coach Marc Allert, whose team led 30-20 at halftime. “It was a game where we felt like were in control the entire game. We were balanced and our main kids did a good job of leading us when we needed it.”

Trinidie Nichols scored 12 points for Post Falls (10-2), which faces Lapwai in the semifinals tonight at 7:30.

Erika Pickett scored 16 points for Clarkston.

SPOKANE VALLEY — Addie Kiefer had 18 points, 12 rebounds and four steals for the Hawks in a win over the Falcons of Liberty Lake in the Eagle Holiday Classic at West Valley High.

“We did a lot of things well in the first half,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “In the second half, we didn’t make anything. We had some good looks, but missed some close shots, but played well enough to get the job done.”

Kenna Simon had 11 points and 14 rebounds for Lakeland (3-6), which faces Asotin on Thursday at noon.
