George Robert “Butch” Periman, 89

| December 23, 2021 1:00 AM

At the age of 89, George’s journey on earth ended Dec. 18, 2021, surrounded by loving family at the Schneidmiller Hospice House, where Jesus took his hand to lead him to his final destination.

George Robert “Butch” Periman entered the world June 8, 1932, born in Deer Lodge, Mont.; son of Alma (Johnson) and Lawrence “Duffy” Periman. Butch graduated from Powell County High School and worked as a trammer with Montana Phosphate Products for a year before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1951. His first duty station was March Air Force Base California where he worked as an Air Policeman. Due to injuries from a motorcycle accident, he was reassigned as personnel

Specialist. During his assignment to Ramstein Air Base in 1957, he met and married his life partner, Belvalee “Lee” Brodarick. The family grew with the birth of daughters Cindy and Cathy while George and Lee were stationed in Germany. Returning to the states at McChord Air Force Base Washington, daughter Shari completed the family.

After serving at Randolph Air Force Base Texas and Hickam Air Force Base Hawaii, his final assignment was at Malmstrom Air Force Base, returning him home to Montana. In April 1971, after 20 years of service, he retired as a Master Sergeant. Planting roots in Great Falls, he began working for Cascade Supply Company, finally relocating to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1979, working for Custodial Supply Company until his retirement in 1994.

George enjoyed his retirement years singing tenor with the Lake City Harmonizers Barbershop Choir and the “Concordes” Barbershop Quartet. He was also an active member of Trinity and Christ the King Lutheran churches, and a Chaplain with Kogudus Renewal Ministry, visiting the prison in Deer Lodge regularly. In 2016, he and his wife Lee were honored as proud veterans with a trip to visit service memorials in Washington, D.C., as part of Honor Flight.

With three daughters, the Periman household was outnumbered by women until each of them married and gave birth to six boys; Mitchell grandsons Jeff, Jeremy and Christopher; Fabel grandsons Daniel and Leland, and McKinley grandson Trevor. The cousins have fond memories of summer get togethers at the house on Honeysuckle Drive and annual visits to Silverwood Amusement Park as well as bowling, bike rides, and dog walks with grandpa.

George leaves behind his wife of 64 years Lee Periman; daughter Cindy Mitchell and her children Jeff, Jeremy (Laura), Christopher; his daughter Cathy Fabel, husband Brad, and their sons Daniel and Leland (Amanda); his daughter Shari McKinley, husband Mike and their son Trevor; great-grandchildren Ivy, Nolan, Leona, Jasper and Jude; and his sister Fran.

Not to be forgotten and greeting him in heaven, were George’s many furry friends near and dear to his heart: Snooks, Mitzi, Heidipoo, Buffy, Lady and Daisy.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Schneidmiller Hospice House for their care and compassion during his final days. You are all angels!

A memorial service will take place 2 p.m., Dec. 26, 2021, at Christ the King Church in Coeur d’Alene. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed at http://ctkcda.com. A military internment will take place 1:45 p.m. Dec. 27, 2021, at Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
