BAKER: His message resonates

| December 19, 2021 1:00 AM

I am a big newspaper reader, much to the consternation of my family, labeling me old-fashioned and behind in technology. Granted I am not a word for word, every article reader but I scan the entire paper for news and information.

Generally, headlines and news of interest grab me based upon the headline. Tuesday’s CDA Press edition was where I found Mike Baker’s article about “The best medicine is lifting others up.”

My first inclination was this is just a cushy piece calling for all to join hands and sing Kumbaya. While reading it I learned Mr. Baker’s solution really addressed our current situation all of us are facing — division destroying the soul of our society.

He calls for compassion and kindness when dealing with each other and problems. I believe he is spot on with the actions each one of us needs to take.

I would also add: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Put away your selfishness and adopt decisions that will benefit the whole of our community.

The sooner we are kind, compassionate and unselfish, the sooner we can move forward from the pandemic crisis as well as other issues.
