CDA teacher lands $500 grant

| December 18, 2021 1:00 AM

Karen Garner, a K-2 educator with Skyway Elementary School in Coeur d’Alene, has been awarded a classroom grant by Northwest Professional Educators. This $500 grant will be used to purchase Squishy Circuits Group Kits for her students.

“This funding will help support and strengthen academic learning in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to help bridge the achievement gap produced by the coronavirus pandemic,” Garner wrote in her submission. “My students need engaging, hands-on materials and the freedom to explore while solidifying critical skills and collaborating with peers.”

The Northwest Professional Educators Teacher Scholarship and Classroom Grant Program is open to all full-time educators in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Applications are considered twice-a-year by a volunteer review committee of educators.

The program is accepting scholarship and grant applications through the next deadline of March 1.
